Following on from our successful delivery of a similar plant for the YANSAB Petrochemical complex, we are delighted to have been selected by SABIC and Fluor Corporation, Houston, USA to build a larger boiler feedwater and condensate treatment package.
As part of Fluor’s contract to construct the Offsites and Utilitities project, Christ Kennicott have been awarded the contract to build the 720 tonne/hr Demineralisation plant and the 1400 tonne/hr Condensate treatment plant both of which are vital for the production of high quality process steam to meet the needs of the entire complex. The SAUDI KAYAN Petrochemical complex will be one of the largest of its kind in the world, producing over 4 million tonnes of chemicals products/year.
Against global competition, Christ Kennicott again demonstrated their capability to engineer large ion exchange systems to demanding petrochemical specifications. For over 100 years Kennicott have specialised in ion exchange technologies and have installed some of the largest condensate polishing plants in the world. Our scope of supply comprises:
- Activated Carbon Filters
- Cation, Anion and Mixed Bed ion exchange ( packed bed, counter-current regeneration)
- Mixed Bed Condensate polishing
- Regeneration systems
- Effluent neutralisation system
Although the engineering will be carried out in the UK, the majority of the fabricated vessels and tanks are to be sourced locally with Kennicott working alongside their sister company in the UAE to manage the local content.
This project represents our third project with SABIC within the last 2 years and demonstrates our proven ability to design and supply very large and complex ion exchange systems, including some of the largest Mixed Bed vessels in the world ( 3.6 metre diameter )
The plant is due to be delivered in January 2008.
