Christ Kennicott Water Technology Ltd are delighted to have been chosen by SABIC, Saudi Arabia to design and build the boiler feedwater and condensate treatment plant as part of the Offsites and Utilities package required for the new YANSAB Petrochemical complex being built in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
As part of Fluor’s contract to construct the Offsites and Utilitities project, Christ Kennicott have been awarded the contract to build the 500 tonne/hr Demineralisation plant and the 200 tonne/hr Condensate Treatment plant both of which are vital for the production of high quality process steam. |

Against global competition, Christ Kennicott demonstrated their capability to engineer large ion exchange systems to demanding petrochemical specifications. For over 100 years Kennicott have specialised in ion exchange technologies and have installed some of the largest condensate polishing plants in the world. For the YANSAB project CKWT are supplying the following plant:
- Activated Carbon Filters ( steam sterilisable)
- Cation , Degasser , Anion and Mixed Bed ion exchange ( packed bed, counter-current regeneration)
- Mixed Bed Condensate polishing
- Effluent neutralisation system
Although the engineering will be carried out in the UK, the majority of the fabricated vessels and tanks are to be sourced locally with Kennicott working alongside with their sister company in the UAE to manage the local content.
YANSAB will be one of the world’s largest plants, producing 1.3 million tpy of ethylene; 400,000 tpy of propylene; 900,000 tpy of HDPE and LLDPE; 400,000 tpy of polypropylene; 700,000tpy of mono ethylene glycol and 250,000 tpy of benzene,xylene and toluene. The complex will manufacture a wide range of basic chemicals, intermediates and polymer products.
The plant is expected to be delivered in October 2006.
