Our history

The Christ Kennicott Water Technology pedigree in the UK can be traced back to 1902 with the development of some of the first industrial softening systems, in order to overcome problems with boiler water chemistry.

Our recent history starts in 1977 when Northern Engineering Industries plc.

(NEI) was formed following the merger of Clarke Chapman, Jon Thompson, Reyrolle and Parsons. Thompson Kennicott became part of NEI Thompson Limited. In 1989 NEI plc. merged with Rolls-Royce plc. Following a company reorganization on the 1st January 1992, Thompson Kennicott ceased to be part of NEI Thompson Limited and became part of Rolls-Royce Nuclear Engineering Limited, a company acting as Agent for NEI plc.

On the 26th June 1992, following a further restructuring, Thompson Kennicott Limited was formed and traded as an Agent for Rolls-Royce Power Engineering plc. On 26th May 1997 the company name was changed to Kennicott Water Systems Limited.

On 1st January 1998 Kennicott Water Systems Ltd. became part of the Best Water Technology Group AG, Austria. On 1st March 2002, Kennicott was integrated into the Christ Group of companies and is now known as Christ-Kennicott Water Technology Ltd, Christ being part of the Best Water Technology (BWT) Group.

In 2005 The Christ Water Group was separated from BWT and listed on the Vienna stock market. Christ Kennicott Water Technology Ltd remains a wholly owned subsidiary of the Christ Water Group AG.
